The directorate meeting between CNRS/IN2P3 and KEK was held at KEK on Friday, October 3.

Four representatives from CNRS attended: Dr. Christelle ROY (IN2P3 Director), Dr. Laurent VACAVANT (IN2P3 Scientific Director for Particle Physics), Dr. Arnaud LUCOTTE (IN2P3 Scientific Director for Accelerators, Detectors, Technologies) and Dr. Edouard BESSERVE (CNRS/DEI, Deputy Director for Asia, Oceania, Russia & Eastern Europe).

Active discussions were held on the FJPPN bilateral exchange program jointly promoted by KEK and France (CNRS), as well as on collaborative projects between the two countries, including the Belle II experiment, the T2K/Hyper-K experiment, the ILC Technology Network, and the COMET experiment. At the same time, the joint CNRS–KEK Yuasa Toshiko Laboratory (TYL) Steering Committee meeting was held and exchanges took place regarding its future operations.

Dr. Roy and other CNRS representatives visited the Accelerator Test Facility (ATF), the PF-AR test beamline of the Instrumentation Technology Development Center (ITDC), and the Tsukuba Experimental Hall, where the Belle II detector is installed. At each facility, they were briefed on equipment developed at French universities and research institutes and contributions by French researchers, highlighting the strong collaborative relationship between the two countries.

These exchanges are expected to further deepen Japan–France ties and accelerate joint research activities in the years ahead.
