Overview

High-intensity particle beams in current and future particle accelerators interact with the vacuum chamber environment and machine devices, generating strong self-induced electromagnetic fields that perturb the beam dynamics and may lead to unwanted instabilities.
This presentation provides a brief review of significant impedance-induced instabilities in circular accelerators, addressing both longitudinal and transverse planes. It discusses contemporary analytical and numerical methods employed to predict these instabilities, along with considerations regarding potential mitigation techniques.
Finally, it explores applications of these concepts to the main rings of the FCC-ee.
