Shoji Asai takes office as Director General of KEK

Dr. Shoji Asai, former Director of the International Center for Elementary Particle Physics at the University of Tokyo, was appointed as the 5th Director General of KEK by Dr. Masahito Moriyama, Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on April 1, 2024 and he officially took office on this day.

Dr. Asai was selected as a candidate for the next Director General by the Director General Selection Committee last September, and his term as Director General will last for three years until March 31, 2027.

The organisation’s five Executive Directors also took office on the same day, and their terms are the same as the new Director General’s. New Executive Directors are as follows.
