In the case of Assistant Professor, the term is 4 years, but after an evaluation in the third year (or earlier), the candidate may be offered permanent employment as an Assistant Professor.

Job Description
The Institute of Materials Structure Science (IMSS), one of the Inter-University Research Institutes, promotes advanced and multiple use of four types of quantum beams, synchrotron radiation, neutrons, muons and slow positrons, in materials and life sciences.
The successful candidate belongs to the Photon Factory (PF, SR facility), and is expected to lead the management, R&D, and joint usage of the PF beamlines. The candidate is also expected to engage in proactive activities such as the development of new experimental methods and apparatus toward the future plan of the facility. The workplace is KEK Tsukuba campus.
