◆The staff and the graduate student on Tsukuba campus have been confirmed positive of COVID-19.The details are as follows.

The above two cases are not related. It should be noted that we have already disinfected the places where the student stopped by.

 

 

◆A staff of KEK Tsukuba campus (who worked until June 11) has been confirmed positive of COVID-19 on June 20 as a result of the antigen test. The infection route is unknown. There are no close contacts. The symptom of this staff is mild. This staff is undergoing medical treatment at hotel.

 

 

◆The staff on Tsukuba campus and user on Tokai campus have been confirmed positive of COVID-19.The details are as follows.

The above two cases are considered to be due to overseas business trips..It should be noted that we have already disinfected the places where the staff and the user stopped by.

 

 

With the safety of users and staff as the top priority, we will cooperate with health centers and related local governments and continue to take appropriate measures to prevent from spreading the infection.

To students

To students studying at KEK

The students who are studying at KEK as SOKENDAI students, Graduate students as KEK Special Research Student and Graduate student based on the agreements, should basically observe the following guidelines/ regulations and statement.

The Graduate students as KEK Special Research Student and Graduate student based on the agreements should also follow the guidelines/ regulations and statement of the universities you belong.

When you develop symptoms / suspect an infection

  • If you have mild symptoms such as a cold or fever, please refrain from going out and recuperate at home
  • In case of appearing any of symptoms at the office, please contact your supervisor and immediately go home and rest.

However, if you have any of the following symptoms, please call and consult the “consultation center” set up in each prefecture promptly.

If you have either of symptoms:

  • difficulty breathing (dyspnea)
  • strong fatigue (malaise) and
  • high fever;

If you are prone to serious illness (listed below), and have relatively mild cold symptoms such as fever or cough:

  • those who have underlying disease such as diabetes, heart failure, respiratory diseases (COPD etc.)
  • those who are on dialysis
  • those who are using immunosuppressant or anticancer agents

Other than those mentioned above, if your relatively mild cold symptoms continue:

  • If your symptoms continue for 4 days or more, please be sure to consult. Since the symptoms vary from individual to individual, please consult immediately if you feel strong symptoms.
  • The same applies to those who have to continue to take antipyretics.

If you are diagnosed to be a suspected infection at the medical institutions, you have an obligation to report the fact through “Hearing Sheet” to your supervisor.

When your cohabitants are infected

  • Stand-by at home when a cohabitant is infected
  • When a cohabitant is to be a close contact person with infected patients, you shall stand-by at home during the health observation period (quarantine period) of your cohabitant
  • When infected person is confirmed at the cohabitant’s working place and the cohabitant has symptoms such as a cold or fever, you shall stand-bay at home during the health observation period of your cohabitant.

Contacts in case of infection

If graduate students or their cohabiting family members are infected, they or their family members shall report to their supervisors in KEK.

Telecommuting

The staff members shall implement the telecommuting as much as possible when the work situation allows it.

Graduate students from other universities; Follow also the guidelines of the universities which you belong to.

Business trip

SOKENDAI students

  • As a rule, business trip to overseas shall be prohibited
  • Consult with your supervisor if the business trip to abroad is absolutely essential for your research.
  • Business trip to domestic areas shall be limited to the minimum necessary. Consult with your supervisor when you plan a business trip.
  • Excluding moving between campuses

Graduate students from other universities

  • Follow the guidelines of the universities which you belong to.
  • Returnees from the countries covered by the government border control measures shall be prohibited from entering KEK for 14 days from the day after entering Japan, and shall stand by at home during the quarantine period. However, if you have received a notice from the government to shorten the waiting period after entry, it shall be during that period.

Requirements on holding conferences and meetings

  • Holding conferences and meetings by online is essentially recommended.
  • When gathering at the save venue,
    • (1) the sufficient space is secured (about half of the capacity of the venue)
    • (2) the distance between the participants should be kept at least 2 meters or take all possible measures to isolate the area, such as using partitions, and
    • (3) ensure thorough ventilation such as using circulators

Available as usual (Office hour: free entry, Night/Holidays: KEK-ID card is needed for entering)

Sports facilities

Available for such as usual practice and fun, but large-scale sports competitions cannot be held for the time being.
