Microbeam X-rays reveal the mechanisms of radiation biological responses at low doses of ionizing radiation

Summary

An X-ray microbeam irradiation system using synchrotron radiation has been developed at Photon Factory. Using the system we can recognize cells individually and irradiate one by one with desired dose of X-rays. By tracking the fate of the individual cell, both irradiated and unirradiated, the biological response with low-dose radiation can be investigated.
