K2K

The K2K is the first accelerator based long baseline neutrino experiment in the world which concluded the existence of muon neutrino disappearance phenomenon.

Summary

The K2K is the first accelerator based long baseline neutrino experiment in the world. The experiment utilized 12GeV KEK proton synchrotron to produce high intensity neutrinos. The neutrino beam was detected at 250km distant far neutrino detector, Super-Kamiokande. The K2K concluded the existence of muon neutrino disappearance phenomena.
